Analog vehicle lamp control has limitations in switching speed and power loss. This study aims to analyze and simulate the control of a 12V vehicle lighting system consisting of headlamp, turn signal, hazard, brake, horn, and cabin lamps using MOSFET and PC817 optocoupler as a digital switch. The method used is a simulation using Livewire Professional by varying the LED forward current (If) 5 mA – 15 mA and measuring Vce voltage, rise time, fall time, and Rds(on) of the MOSFET. The simulation results show that the common emitter configuration with a 1K pull-up to 12V is able to produce a switching working voltage of 11.8 V with a rise time of 3.2 µs, thus being able to optimally activate the 12V lamp with 98% lower power loss compared to an analog switch. This system also provides optical isolation between the 5V control circuit and the 12V load.
